I love hot weather. Ok, I'll admit that the DC-area's steamy summers aren't the best, but really, compared to 30 degree temps, I'll take the heat and humidity any day. Heck, I spent 2 months living in a tent in the Kenyan desert a few years ago in 110-120 degree heat and really didn't mind the temperatures all that much. However, upon returning to DC and its 85 degrees and 85% humidity summers, I was dying.
The reason that I bring up the heat is that DC is experiencing unseasonably warm temperatures right now. We hit 102 on Sat; 98 on Sun; and are poised to be at 96 today. While I ordinarily wouldn't complain, our AC is also broken and I'm dying. I kid you not, we are currently at 47% humidity in the region. I doesn't help that a mere two week ago, daytime temperatures were in the 60's. That's one heck of a drastic change.
So here's hoping that everyone else out there is managing to stay cool. Think cold thoughts for me (and pray that the AC repairman gets here within the next hour!).
Update: It's 6:30 and the repair guy just left. AC is working and only $300 for this fix (not too bad), but he said we'd need to get a new outdoor unit soon, to the tune of $3000-$7000 (ouch).

Oh dear lord, you poor thing. AC repairman, come quick!
Clayton does AC repairs now. Next time (hopefully this won't happen, I'll give you his company's number.)
Stay cool hon!
Ooh, what a bad time for the AC to break. Glad you got it fixed at least temporarily.
So glad you're cooling. Bummer about the upcoming fix tho. Hose in the kiddie pool, ice pops in the freezer!
hi there,
i just read your comment on CityMama and wanted to know if you'd share your granola bar recipe with me. i have been wanting to try this but haven't been able to find a good recipe.
thanks,
erin
Holy heck! I'm so glad you got it fixed. You totally could have melted.
I'm thrilled that the heat wave is over - for now.
Hi Erin, I'll try and post a recipe over the weekend :)
I lived in D.C. my first 8 years and five minutes outside the city for the next 13. I still remember the humidity! I started working for the fed govt in July '77 and in October a co-worker said how nice my hair looked curled. I didn't have the heart to tell her I had curled it every morning since July. Your mention of cherry blossoms and photo of daffodils brought back memories, too. *Thanks for your comment on 50-somethingmomsblog.
Delora Dear,
