Sweating It Out - A Redux

Our AC is broken. Again. If you recall, this has happened before. I should note that was in 95 degrees today with a humidity level of 65%. Fun!

Back in June, the repairman that came out said that our outside AC unit likely didn't have long to live. Well, I think it has finally kicked the bucket this time. While out back, I can hear it try and crank up, but then the fan never starts spinning. Given the age of the unit (15+ years), I don't see it being cost-effective to try and repair it again. That means we need to start getting price quotes. It also means that the 4 grand we had stashed away for a minor house remodel (converting the two rooms on the lower level into a master bedroom) will have to be used for the AC unit instead.

*sigh*

I am thankful that we do have some money available. We are very fortunate to be in the house we are at our ages, with steady jobs and good salaries. I just hate having my plans ruined by unforeseen circumstances. Ok, so you could argue that this AC replacement was, in fact, foreseen (by the repairman in June!), but we were hoping to deal with this next spring. You know, after tax refunds come in. Maybe we can do the remodel in the spring instead.

*double sigh*

Anyone know the name of a good HVAC company?

I'm sorry to hear about the a/c woes. I know when it happened here a couple summers ago it was *awful*. Sleeping here was like sleeping in a sauna. Sweat stories aside if you guys want help with home projects gimme a call!

I've had great luck with Richard's HVAC.

I think they are close too.

That sucks. I hate it every time a piece of technology dies. I'm just like, "You're man-made! You should be PERFECT!"

I've now spent $180 on 2 different dishwasher related repairmen visits... and I just found out that to repair the dishwasher will cost $300... that's a total of $480 -
I just have to get a new dishwasher ...

it's not $4000, but I hate those 'unexpected' expenses for the home!
