I love hot weather. Ok, I'll admit that the DC-area's steamy summers aren't the best, but really, compared to 30 degree temps, I'll take the heat and humidity any day. Heck, I spent 2 months living in a tent in the Kenyan desert a few years ago in 110-120 degree heat and really didn't mind the temperatures all that much. However, upon returning to DC and its 85 degrees and 85% humidity summers, I was dying.
The reason that I bring up the heat is that DC is experiencing unseasonably warm temperatures right now. We hit 102 on Sat; 98 on Sun; and are poised to be at 96 today. While I ordinarily wouldn't complain, our AC is also broken and I'm dying. I kid you not, we are currently at 47% humidity in the region. I doesn't help that a mere two week ago, daytime temperatures were in the 60's. That's one heck of a drastic change.
So here's hoping that everyone else out there is managing to stay cool. Think cold thoughts for me (and pray that the AC repairman gets here within the next hour!).
Update: It's 6:30 and the repair guy just left. AC is working and only $300 for this fix (not too bad), but he said we'd need to get a new outdoor unit soon, to the tune of $3000-$7000 (ouch).
